Future plans of Elements Direct
Hi All,
The future of Elements Direct is pretty clear now, it seems:
1. Elements direct has entered 'maintenance mode', as no real development efforts are made anymore, it's in some distant corner of the website, and the original development team doesn't exist anymore.
2. Creo Direct (positioned as the new direct modeler where we could migrate to) is not going anywhere and isn't positioned as next step for Elements Direct anymore. It's not even mentioned as Creo CAD anymore (only parametric is there now).
3. Parametric has some 'direct capabilities', and they seem to work hard to make transitioning to Parametric as easy as possible (migrating 2D drawings for example).
So, PTC has clearly decided that Elements Direct is going to be phased out. I would like to know what the future plans of users are. I can think of a few options:
1. Switch to Parametric
2. Switch to another CAD system
3. Hold on as long as possible and keep maintenance
4. Hold on as long as you can keep it running without maintenance
5. A combination of the above
For our business the direct modeling is vital and there currently is no good alternative available. Also, we have a lot of software developed on top of Elements Direct. So we decided to hold on (for now with maintenance), but start investigating other CAD options and keep an eye on all the developments. My first impression is that we will definitely not switch to Creo Parametric. PTC doesn't seem to keep our interests high on their priority list and parametric doesn't match with our business. I think we will start testing Solid Edge Synchronous technology as our first step. At this point maintenance is only an insurance for future platform support, but even new versions can be tricky. For us version 19 already had more new bugs than features, but there was windows 10 support. Not sure how long we will keep maintenance. It's a gamble how long the software works nicely on new versions of windows and graphics cards.
What are your plans? Are you going to switch as soon as possible or are you going to hold on as long as possible?

Is there way to 'find and replace' the instance names of shared parts? I can change the model name and it changes all, but do I have to change each individual shared instance?
I have 95 instances of a part that I would like to rename. I really don't want to have to rename each one... Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Creo Direct Drafting Keyboard Shortcuts
I am currently using/learning Creo Direct Drafting (Creo Elements) v19 - strictly 2D drafting. A question has come up in our weekly team meeting about Keyboard Shortcuts. Are there any standard keyboard shortcuts for Creo Elements? For example, in I-DEAS "FS" will save the drawing.

Change the scale drawing

Is it possible to change the scale of the drawing in Annotation?.
I can change the sheet scale, this is easy but i don´t know how to do whit the drawing scale.

DM 6.0 Fehler bei Win10
Hallo,
bei Modelling 6.0 bekomme ich beim Start seit dem Upgrade auf win10 den Fehler: "LoadLibrary failed with error 87: Falscher Parameter".
Leider sind damit alle meine Zeichnungen weg.
Kann mir jemand helfen?

Warum bekomme ich keine Hife angezeigt? Das Kontext - Menü wird nicht geöffnet.
Das bekomme ich in englisch angezeigt:
"Die Registrierung verweist auf eine nicht vorhandene Java Runtime Environment-Installation oder die Common Language Runtime ist beschädigt"
Wie muß ich vorgehen, um dieses Problem zu lösen ?

Pulled curves has facets instead of being smooth
Hi
I'm using a three point arc to create a wide sweeping curve.. is about 10cm long with a a radius of 800mm. The arc looks perfect and smooth.
When I pull the curve though, you can notice a break in the curve so it looks like two separate shallower facets, and it hasn't pulled exactly on the arc line. When you look plane face on, you can see the difference in the arc versus the pulled part.
Why is this happening, and it is just something visual on the screen or would a 3d printed version also have the kink?
And more importantly, what do I do to ensure no kink in either the screen of printed versions?

Non linear draft angle
Hi
I want to pull a piece that has a draft angle, but instead of having a linear draft, I want the draft to gradually increase in angle so it turns into a curved draft (i.e. so starts at a shallow angle but increases angle as it is pulled further). Is this possible?
The other way to do this sounds like if I pull the part without any draft, and then carve out the side faces with the curved tool; difficult to explain what I mean, but think of it as if you have a piece of wood and you profile all the sides of the wood using an electric router with a curved router bit. Make sense?
And is this possible?

Drafting: change scale only; without really magnyfying
I have a problem. After a complex 3D model was traced to 2D projection in 2:1 scale in "Creo Direct/Modeling-Annotation", it was exported to "Creo Direct/Drafting"(ME10) for further editing with the company standard styles, preprogrammed for ME10 many years ago.
The problem is that 2:1 scale was lost upon .mi exporting (or importing)... and now with a scale 1:1 every dimension in annotations is 2x times longer.
When changing scale to 2:1 with mouse, the part in the view-port is also magnified 2 times, which is WRONG.
How can I change only scale property of the part? Without applying any magnifying transform?
Maybe there's a way to text-edit the MI file? But I do not know the format.

Is there anyone who uses Creo Direct Drafting - 2D only - that would be willing to share their knowledge through tips and tricks with me? record function_set select
I had a question from the record function.
I recorded the function that selected something(ex: parts,assembly,faces,notes),I don't know how can I set the parameter for select something
When I want to change specify part color, I can enter quotes(" ").
ex : SET_PART_COLOR "/5PARTS_ASM_4/1" :RGB 0.2,0.5,1.0
But I don't know which one I select.
I don't know what can I enter parameter.
Maybe it is current part or any one
How can I enter parameter ?
Or I can enter select list to select I need part.
